UBER Joins GlassQube: The Sharing Economy Arrives in Abu Dhabi

It has been awhile since we have updated the blog. We apologize for this but things have been incredibly busy as we prepare for the opening of the GlassQube Beta Space this April, 2016. As part of this effort, we have some very exciting updates to share with you.

Uber Joins GlassQube Coworking

The Beta Space launch continues to be on track for an early Spring opening. This highly anticipated project will fundamentally change the way the UAE thinks about workspace. No more miserable, solitary days working out of a sterile, white gypsum walled box while paying hidden fees for “IT & Voice Bundles” or “Set-up Fees” for basic services like WiFi.  GlassQube Coworking has evolved the standard convention of the services a workspace should provide and what a workspace should look like. GlassQube Coworking represents the new workspace paradigm in the era of the “sharing economy”.

As testament this, we are happy to announce that Uber Technologies Inc. has joined GlassQube Coworking and will make the Beta Space their new Abu Dhabi headquarters. Uber, with a valuation of approximately $62.5 billion, is an American technology company based out San Francisco. Their service is available in over 69 countries and 388 cities worldwide.

“Uber is arguably one of the most exciting technology companies in the world today. They represent the vanguard of the “sharing economy” market revolution which aligns perfectly with GlassQube’s value proposition in the region,” said Bernard Lee, Co-Founder and Managing Partner of GlassQube Coworking. “Uber’s commitment to GlassQube Coworking prior to our formal commencement of operations in Abu Dhabi sends a strong signal of confidence to us and to the region that we are delivering something special to the market. We are thrilled to welcome Uber as a GlassQube Coworking Member and look forward to the tremendous entrepreneurial knowledge and energy they will contribute to our ecosystem and to the broader marketplace.”

When asked about Uber’s new workspace with GlassQube, Chris Free, Uber GM for the UAE & Doha said, "We are excited about joining GlassQUBE Coworking in Abu Dhabi and leveraging their ecosystem and facilities to not only expand our business in Abu Dhabi but also contribute back to the entrepreneurial community being fostered in this great space."

And by the way, all GlassQube Members will be entitled to an exclusive GlassQube-Uber corporate discount for all Uber fares.

Three Locations Opening in 2016

But wait, there’s more….

In addition to the Beta Space and the Flagship Building, GlassQube is in the early stages of delivering a 3rd space to Abu Dhabi in the South Corniche neighborhood. Although we are keeping the details of this project Top Secret for now, we can tell you that it will be an unprecedented global benchmark for flexible workspace innovation and collaboration. If everything goes according to plan, this project will be the first of its kind in the world, and yet another data point illustrating Abu Dhabi as a dedicated and growing center of entrepreneurial innovation. We hope to make a formal announcement for this project in the coming months. Stay tuned…
